Barrister A B M Hamidul Mishbah is a corporate and intellectual property lawyer practicing at the Supreme Court of Bangladesh, and is the Managing Partner of Old Bailey Chambers, Dhaka. He obtained his LL.B (Hons) and Post Graduate Degree in Law from the United Kingdom, and was called to the Bar of England and Wales from Lincoln’s Inn in March 2005. Mishbah later on pursued an LL.M Degree in Competition Law at the Kings College, London. Mishbah specializes in the areas of Intellectual Property, Data Protection and Emerging Technology, Technology Transfer & Franchise, IT & Telecommunication, and International Commercial law. Mishbah also works as a Consultant at World Intellectual Property Organization.

Mishbah’s recent notable engagements include assisting Japan Tobacco Industries in a USD 1.5-billion-dollar acquisition – the largest acquisition in Bangladesh till date. Mishbah has assisted large multinational companies and brands i.e. Microsoft Inc, Samsung Electronics, Pfizer, Gilead Sciences, Tommy Hilfiger, Casio, Nestle, enforce their intellectual property rights (Trademark and Patent) in Bangladesh. In 2019 Mishbah played the key role for the enactment of the Customs IPR (Import and Export) Rules, 2019. In 2014 Mishbah assisted the music fraternity of Bangladesh to establish the first ever Collective Management Organization in Bangladesh. Mishbah has previously served as an IPR Consultant to the Access to Information Program at the Prime Minister’s Office, Bangladesh. In 2011 Mishbah founded Bangladesh Intellectual Property Forum (www.bcipf.org) – a not- for solely focuses on IPR awareness and capacity building programs and has been awarded the “Ten Outstanding Young Persons of Bangladesh, 2015 Award” by the Junior Chambers International (JCI).
